Vice President Mike Pence was the subject of several queries during a Friday appearance on the Andrew Wilkow show, but his schedule aides insisted that it was not tied to a fundraiser a day earlier at the home of Robert Youngkin.

“I just want to clarify, the vice president did not have fundraisers yesterday, he’s in Virginia today. He’s going to the ballpark this evening. He’s got a campaign event planned for the campaign on Monday,” spokesperson Jarrod Agen told reporters.

Mr. Agen provided short documentation to substantiate the line. The vice president had previously announced a campaign event in Cary, N.C., on Monday.

But the reports immediately spurred questions among reporters as to why the vice president might not be making campaign stops in August.

Pence’s aides have in recent days repeatedly insisted on the vice president’s schedule not being affected by the court battle over the Special Counsel’s Russia investigation, which many viewed as increasing a potential obstruction of justice charge against Mr. Trump.

Pence’s scheduled Saturday appearances were news to many in the media, since his only scheduled appearances as of Thursday, three days before the vice president is set to start campaign events, were three hours of music lessons in Indiana with his daughter.

On Friday, Pence’s schedule aides said he was making two campaign stops with Virginia Sen. Mark Warner on Saturday and two on Sunday with Sen. Tim Kaine.
